Peak situated at an elevation of 5688 ft (1734 m) with tracks spread over 2500 acres (10 km2). It can be finding if we travel from Karachi City 423 Kms on North and 93 Kms West of Dadu in the Khirthar Mountain Range. In June 17℃ to 30o℃ & In Jan: 5℃ to – 20℃ with average rainfall: 12.5 inches. About 800 people on and near the main Hill station, mostly dependent on livestock, Presently, the Gorakh Hill peak can only be reached with 4×4 Vehicle, which are available from Dadu, Johi and Wahi Pandhi towns
Brief Facts
- Gorakh Hill was first identified by the British rulers in 1860 to be developed into a Hill Station, but it was not until 1989 when the Project was formally launched by the PPP Government to be developed as a planned Hill Resort
- Earlier in 1950s the then Chief Minister Sindh, Mr. Abdul Sattar Pirzado, visited the site.
- In 1989, Shaheed Prime Minister, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto also visited the site and activated the efforts to develop the resort. But due to dismissal of the government, project remained abandoned till 1993
- In 1997-98, the construction of road from Wahi Pandhi to Gorakh (54 Kms) was started.
- In 2006-07, necessary works on Roads, Water Supply and electricity were completed.
- The project works restarted in Dec: 2009, which remained abandoned since July 2007.
